Yesterday when I was walking on the road, I saw a big tree. It was so high that I cannot help but stop and start looking at it. I didn’t know its name. But I’m quite sure that I haven’t seen this kind of tree before. I remember that I want to know every plant’s name just because I think it’s so cool. However, after I take some reference classes, I realize that it’s a hard work for me. I can’t find out the characteristics of the plants as easy as my classmates. Or even I know its name, I will forget it very soon. Maybe I am not as eager as I think to plants. After all, it is just an annoying and boring report that we are forced to do……However, since that I didn’t want to throw this trouble to my group mates, I went to the library to find out the secret of the tree. Although I searched all the information about the tree by surfing the webs and consulting the references books on the shelves in the library, I had not searched all of them. What’s depressing, I couldn’t even find the characteristics of the plants which I know the name. Finally, my group mates helped me to recognize it and we have successfully finish the project. From this experience, I know that what should I learn is how to cooperate with others and most important, how to accept the help of others.

The Butterfly Lovers

Last Sunday, wehad our first practice of the violin concerto, The Butterfly Lovers(粱祝). It was really a beautiful song. As a matter of fact, it was originally a traditional Chinese drama about a love story between Liang(梁山伯) and Dru(祝英台).
Dru was a fabricated character that has her own thoughts. Despite the fact that she is female, that considered to be "inferer" than male at that time, she went to the "private school" (known as 私塾 in Chinese) and studied. In order not to be noticed thatshe was a girl, she wore men's clothings and pretend that she were male. It was in that private school did she meet Liang. They studied together. At the same time, they had a classmate named Ma(馬文才), who is the son of a powerful official. In the play he was a lazy and selfish person. Meanwhile, he didin't pay much attention on his learning. Dru didn't like him. However, her father forced Dru to marry Ma. When actually Dru liked Liang.
I'll let the ending for you readers to find out by your own. haha
To tell the truth, this drama is a constructive product of literature. It challenged the traditional idea of discrimanation on girls. At the same time, it also sang the praise of autonomic love. In short, it is a story worth reading. While the music is worth listening, too.

The Hunchback

The musical play, "The Hunchback" has been famous for long. I watched it once when I was in my second year of junior high. I like not only the story but also the music and the lyrics. There are always historial comments in the lyrics, which is very touching.

Below is the lyrics of one part, "Notre Dame De Paris act 2 song 1 Florence". The original edition was sung in French, the language in France, in which the story is taken place. But I translated it into English. (Actually, I can not read French. I whatched the Chinese translation and then translated it into Engligh.)

The song was sung by the archbishop and the poet.

p.s. I will write another paragragh or two to introduce the story, even the music later when I have time.

Notre Dame De Paris act2 song 1 Florence

archbishop: Tell me about Florence

And the renaissance

Tell me about Bramate

And the Hell of Dante

poet: In Florence they say

The world is round

And there may be other lands

In this world

Ships are sailing the oceans now

In search of the passage to India

archbishop: Luther will write the New Testament

And we're at the dawn of a divided world

poet: A certain Gutemberg

Has changed the face of the Earth

archbishop: With the presses in Nuremberg

That every second print

poet: Poems on paper

Speeches and tracts

together: Revolutionary ideas

That sweep everything else aside

poet: Small things outnumber big things

Thus literature will be the demise of architecture

archbishop: Schoolbooks will extinguish cathedrals

The Bible will destroy the church and men will kill God

This will destroy that

together: Ships are sailing the oceans now

In search of the passage to India

Luther will rewrite the New Testament

And we're at the dawn of a divided world

This will destroy that

This will destroy that

The Nobel Prize

At the beginning of this semester, our biology teacher already told us that we have to present a lecture concerning the Nobel Prize in teamwork. The subject that teacher gave us for our group is The Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2006. Also known as the RNAi. As a matter of fact, our group is group one and had already gave our presentation last week, as teacher's schedule. However, the biology teacher was not very fond of our presentation and asked us to redo it.
We went to the TA this afternoon for some more advices to our project. TA Tsai is considered to be a serious person and almost never say things that is "useless", let alone smile. We had also taken her as a person not easygoing. However, today we all changed our bias on her. We found out that she is a person who can listen to the students' ideas(athough never accepts them XD). She is very willing to discuss the functions or goals of every experiment scientists made. Truely she seldom reveals a friendly side, but that does not mean she does not pay any attention on our work. In contrast, she does a lot to make all of us to progress and do better jobs than ever before. Until today did we all thanked her from inside of our hearts.
Thank you, Miss Tsai.
Last but not least, may all of us do our best on next week's presentation.
